1.1 A brief look at the company’s history since 1945
Foppapedretti came into being as a result of its founder Ezio’s passion for wood, the most natural of materials. The adventure began in the attic of a house in the province of Bergamo where young Ezio used to enjoy transforming the scraps from his uncle’s carpentry workshop into toys. In fact, Foppapedretti production and marketing activity began with the production of toys before the changing needs of the market and the far-sightedness of the founder made it necessary and wise to diversify the range to cover a series of items for the nursery, which then became the springboard for the company and its visiting card for several decades.

The first highchair made its appearance at the end of the nineteen fifties, followed by cots, changing units, nursery furniture and then at the end of the nineteen eighties the range was extended to cover furniture for the garden and the terrace and household items: first and foremost the ironing table Asso and the ladders for household use that transform ordinary domestic items into revolutionary work stations. This then is the meaning behind the evocative symbol “L’albero delle idee” or “The tree of ideas”: its fruits are the products created as a result of a careful study into the value of wood as a material, in order to satisfy and even anticipate market demands. Quality materials, convenience and ease of use, practicality, research into design and attention to safety make Foppapedretti a solid business concern on the Italian industrial scene and one of the leading companies for its “Made in Italy” production throughout the world.

1.2 The current organization

The head office is situated in Grumello del Monte, close to Bergamo. It has a covered area of 42.000 sq. m. consisting of administrative offices, a technical design department and warehouses. It represents the heart of a company where the best ideas take shape as well as inspired experiments that are always confirmed by their great success on the market.

Foppapedretti technology
To strengthen production and the capacity to finish materials, Foppapedretti Technology has been set up in Bolgare (BG); a production company that works and transforms solid wood to obtain the finished product. The plant is equipped with highly advanced technology and has been built based on the needs of the staff to work under the best environmental conditions. Further expansion has been carried out over the past few years to add warehouses and the last phase of the development (assembly and quality control departments) for a total of 110,000 sq. m.
